Escaping to Google Chrome If you've ever wanted to try Google Chrome, moving your bookmarks into Chrome is fairly simple. When starting up Chrome for the first time, it will prompt you for importing bookmarks from other browsers installed on your machine.
In addition, Chrome supports importing bookmark files exported from other browsers. From the Bookmark Manager, select Tools>>Import Bookmarks... and provide the bookmark file generated by exporting from another browser.
Most installations of Chrome support sync-ing bookmarks across Google Chrome browser instances. If you choose to sync your bookmarks, these bookmarks will also appear in a special folder that you can access through your Google Docs account.
Escaping from Google ChromeThere are two ways to extract your Chrome bookmarks as an export file that can be imported into other browsers. The first is through Google Chrome itself. From the Bookmark Manager, select Tools>>Export Bookmarks... and it will prompt you for a location to save the exported file. See the help page on importing and exporting bookmarks for more information.
The second is through Google Docs. Select the Export menu item from the Google Chrome folder and it will generate the bookmarks file for you. See this useful post on the step-by-step instructions for exporting Chrome bookmarks from Google Docs. |
