Google Maps saves several pieces of map data associated with users. Importing and exporting this map data is generally done using KML, an XML extension for describing geographical data. Escaping from Saved LocationsGoogle Maps stores data about your mostly recently searched locations. Up to 100 of your last searches are stored and are used to provide auto-completion and a default location. To get to your saved locations, make sure you are logged in to your Google Maps, and select the arrow to the right of the search box. You should see a drop-down menu from which you should select "Edit saved locations." From the saved locations page you can click the "Export" link in on the upper right to export your list of locations as a KML document. Escaping from MyMapsGoogle Maps allows you to create and save your own maps which can be shared with others and edited collaboratively.
